Typical education system in Pakistan includes the following levels:
a. Secondary School
- Secondary School Certificate (SSC/Matriculation) - After completing class VIII students have to decide the field of study. There are four options available: Science, Computer Science, Arts/General, Commerce
- Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC/Intermediate) - In intermediate students have four options: Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, Commerce and Arts
b. Vocational Education and Training
- Skilled worker Grade 3 Certificate (2-years in vocational institutes)*
- Skilled worker Grade 2 Certificate (2-years in technical training centres)*
- Final Apprenticeship Certificate (Skilled worker Grade 2 Certificate)
- Diploma of Associate Engineer (3-year in polytechnic or college of technology)
- Diploma in Commerce (D.Com) (2-year in commercial institutes/polytechnics)
* Vocational training on the basis of practical experience (Grade 3 and 2 skilled worker certificates can be awarded on the basis of 4 and 6 years work, respectively, in industry, plus a vocational skills test)

c. Undergraduate
- Bachelor's of Technology (2 years full-time)
- Bachelor's Degree (Pass - 2 years full-time)
- Bachelor’s Degree in named specialist field (3 years full-time)
- Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) (3 years full-time)
- Bachelor’s Degree/Professional (4 years full-time, any discipline excluding Bachelor's of Education)
- Postgraduate Bachelor’s Degree (e.g. Bachelor's of Education)
- Master’s Degree (including MBA, 2 or 3 years full-time after a 2 years Bachelor’s Degree or 1 year full-time after a 3-years Bachelor’s Degree)
- Postgraduate Diploma (1 year full-time following a 2-3 years Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study)
d. Postgraduate
- Postgraduate Diploma (1 year full-time following a 3 - 4 years Honours Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study)
- Master’s Degree (including MBA /Professional field 2 years full-time after a 4-years Bachelor’s Degree)
- Master's of Philosophy Degree
- Master's of Engineering/MSc in Engineering
- Doctor of Philosophy Degree
