Careers as a Chartered Accountant (CA)
Overview:
Chartered Accountants provide
advisory and management services to a variety of clients and businesses
in the industrial, commercial and non profit sectors. They audit the
accounts of these clients and businesses and can also be involved in
specialist areas of financial advice such as tax. Chartered Accountants
are also employed in commercial organisations, banks, and the private
and public sectors. Only qualified Chartered Accountants are legally
allowed to audit a company's financial statement. To become a Chartered
Accountant you need to be motivated, possess analytical skills,
numerical ability, a keen sense of what is going on in the world of
business and finance, and personal qualities such as reliability and
discretion. In CA, You will be required to study business and corporate
finance, economics, auditing, taxation, management and information
systems. Chartered Accountants are member of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants Pakistan (ICAP).

Eligibility for PPT:
- Minimum 45% marks in HSC
- Minimum two passes in A Levels
- Graduates with 2nd Division or less
- PIPFA Qualified; or
- Other candidate with equivalent recognized by HEC
Exemption for PPT:
- HSC candidates with minimum Grade B (60% )
- A level candidates, minimum two passes in Grade C
- Graduates with 1st Division (or equivalent grades) from recognized Universities
- Post graduates with minimum 2nd Division (or equivalent grades) from recognized Universities payment of prescribed fee.
Such candidates will be required to
obtain necessary exemptions from Directorate of Examinations at ICAP on
prescribed form and on payment of prescribed fee.

CAs can work in following areas:
- Financial Accounting:
Financial accounting deals with
keeping financial records. The job involves: Interpreting accounts,
Supervising, Controlling and organizing expenditure, Controlling and
organizing income, Compiling daily, monthly and yearly accounts.
- Auditing:
CA’s work as an Internal auditor ,External audit , Tax auditors etc.
- Cost Accounting:
CA’s work in an area of Budgeting
and budgetary control, Forecasting and Monitoring expenditure.
- Tax management:
CAs specialise as tax managers and
assist in optimizing the firm's financial structure. They look at the
tax implications of new plans and also advise on the tax effect on the
company’s performance.
- Consultancy:
CA’s give advice to companies regarding their financial matter.
- CAs in the industry:
In the industry, CAs is generally
found in the higher positions of the accounting department and in the
finance division at all levels.
