Overview:
Physicians and surgeons serve a fundamental role in our society and have an effect upon all our lives. They diagnose illnesses and prescribe and administer treatment for people suffering from injury or disease.
A physician may be a doctor of medicine in general practice or a specialist in a particular branch of medicine. Their job entails diagnosis of disease, educating clients for prevention and control of disease, prescribing medicines and treatment.
In the surgical branch, general surgeons perform operations on all organs of the body, while specialist surgeons perform the most complicated operations only on particular organs of the body.
MBBS is a 5 year programme after those graduates can do FCPS or DCPS in any specialised area. Detail information about FCPS can be obtained by logging on to http://www.cpsp.edu.pk.
For career advancement MBBS with degree in Master in Health Administration or Master in Health Policy is a good combination.
License to Practice:
MBBS Graduates will be required to register with PMDC (Pakistan Medical and Dental Council) in order to obtain a license to practice in Pakistan. The Council requires experience of medicine or surgery or allied disciplines under supervision for a period of one year in an approved hospital prior to full registration.
